Doy D. Ousley

Title:

Telecommunications Director

Background:

I’ve been in the telecommunications industry for 39 years. I have certificates in AC and DC electronics from Hobson State Technical College, and I attended Alabama Southern College. I worked for CenturyLink for 20 years in locations across the Midwest. Before coming to Pella, I spent 10 years in Rapid City, South Dakota.

What are your day-to-day responsibilities with Pella Fiber?

Today, my focus is on facilitating construction of the entire fiber network, from the central office to the customer premises. That includes the design and engineering of the transport route to Grinnell and all the access equipment for our central office and data center. Our team has spent the past year researching and testing access equipment from a variety of vendors, all in an effort to provide Pella with the best internet connectivity possible.

I am also managing the construction of our new telecommunications office building. Once the fiber and access system are installed and tested and we’re up and running in the new location, my priorities will shift to ensuring all Pella Fiber customers receive the absolute best in customer service from a local provider they can trust.

What can Pella Fiber customers rely on you for?

Pella Fiber customers can count on me to do all I can to make sure our system is up and running 24/7, 365 days a year. We’ve designed lots of different physical and digital routing options into our system to ensure your service will be reliable.

What do you love about living/working in Pella?

I grew up in the tiny town of Monroeville, Alabama (famous for To Kill a Mockingbird). Every day, I find so many similarities between the two cities. I really love living in Pella. Everyone is so nice! It’s also great how people take pride in their homes and yards. Pella is the cleanest town I have ever seen.

What was your favorite toy as a kid?

My guitar. My son and my brother also play. My son’s band is in the process of making their second CD.

Can you play any other instruments?

I also play the drums.
